KIDSBRIDGE@Home – Week 13

Day 61 – Movement Monday
June 22: End of School Gala

Puffing, Anita dragged the plastic laundry basket down the steps into the backyard. Reaching into the basket, she touched and called out each item’s name from her “End of School Gala” list: “Bagged picnic lunches, plastic table cloth, ball, water balloons, sidewalk chalk, measuring tape, clothesline piece, paper cups, paper towels, hand sanitizer. That’s it!” smiled Anita. “It’s time to invite my family to come outside. Let the fun begin!”

Day 62 – Tuneful Tuesday
June 23: Campfire Songs

Juan leaned back on the sofa’s soft cushions and closed his eyes. “Ah,” he whispered. “I can see the campfire’s orange and blue flames leaping, smell the sugary marshmallows roasting and hear the songs Grandfather always plays on his guitar. Our ‘School’s Out Family Campout’ is finally here.” Suddenly Juan opened his eyes and said, “There’s something that keeps bothering me, though. How does Grandfather know what songs to play? I’ll have to call him and ask.”

Day 63 – Creative Wednesday
June 24: Summer Scrapbook

Arco turned off his computer sadly. “That was the last class meeting for the school year. What am I going to do, now?” he asked himself. He wandered into the living room. On the table in front of the couch was one of his older binders labeled ‘Arco’s Summer Scrapbook’ with a note from his family. “Dear Arco, this scrapbook is to help you find wonderful things in the world and yourself. Love, All of Us.” Click here to start your own Summer Scrapbook!

Day 64 – Discovery Thursday
June 25: Community Work Days

“Mom, I want to play a game in the basement, but there is no room,” said Iris. “Well, we could organize it better,” suggested her mom.  “That does not sound fun at all!” Iris groaned. Her mom smiled, “You and your brother and sister and I could do it together. Then it could be more fun. Where Grandpa grew up in Ecuador, they call that a minga – people in the community working together to do important work.” Iris watched this video. What do you think she noticed about how the people are feeling?

Day 65 – Outdoor Friday
June 26: Outdoors and Chill

Ruby went outside and noticed her neighbor’s rose bush was blooming next to the fence. She breathed in deeply. That was it – the smell of summer! Her brother joined her. “Ruby, it’s going to rain.  Do you think it will thunder?” he asked hopefully. He loved watching summer storms. “I don’t know,” she answered. “But since it’s going to rain, let’s go inside and make a list of the summer things we hope to see!” Click here to learn about some of summer’s natural wonders.
