Kidsbridge Executive Director Lynne Azarchi, Kidsbridge Board Chair Cindy Ricker, awardee Joan Bartl, and Humanitarian Awards event chair Lori Danko.

Joan Bartl’s numerous contributions to the business and civic life of our community stem from her native skillset as a salesperson and sales manager. She started early – winning recognition for being her troop’s top selling Girl Scout Cookies youth at 10 years old, followed by decades of successes in media, civic leadership and activism that include being the first female sales manager at Nassau Broadcasting.

Later, she helped create a successful launch of NJ Monthly Magazine as Sales Manager/Associate Publisher.  Joan also started the NJ Edition of the national GoodLife Magazine as Associate Publisher and ultimately managed the entire network of magazines up and down the east coast.  When the Magazine was sold, she started Payment Management, a successful merchant services company managing the credit card processing for small and medium size businesses.

While Joan has been an accomplished entrepreneur, fairness, equity and, most of all, opportunity for everyone are major aspects of Joan’s vision.  Her passion has always been community service where she has focused primarily on issues related to women, children, politics, hunger, affordable housing and economic justice.  She has received numerous industry and community awards as a leader and innovator including the prestigious YWCA Tribute to Women award.  Joan has served on the Womanspace Board for the last 18 years.

Another one of Joan’s passions is establishing a Public Bank in New Jersey which would work in partnership with community banks to ensure that local money works locally and stays local, thereby supporting development and businesses that strengthen our neighborhoods and increase our common wealth.  Toward that end, she is co-founder and Co-Director of Banking On New Jersey and currently serves on Governor Murphy’s Public Bank Implementation Board to bring public banking to New Jersey.

Joan has been a generous supporter of Kidsbridge for many years.
